bestbear_icanbe. I can't say for sure, but I think the human-alien tension is meant to symbolize the tension between different human ethnic groups here on Earth. I'm going to go on line to see if anybody else had the same idea.
But, seriously, I liked the movie. Not going on my Top 10 of All Time, but then what has since 2003? On the way out of the theater, I said to Scott, "Why are there so many movies opening this year with the number 9 in the title?" and he said, "Because it's 2009, you numb-brained shuffing buffoon." He actually stopped talking after "2009," but my inner voices supplied the rest.

Date: 2009-08-20 01:38 pm (UTC)I thought the move was kinda dumb....... or at least, it created more questions than it answered, like, why is Christopher leaving everybody on Earth, if he's trying to save them, and why didn't they make the rocket fuel in a hidden, underground bunker, or the damn space ship, instead of a neighbor's shack?!?
*and some noodles and a can of mushroom soup.......
