Just got back from seeing District 9 with bestbear_icanbe. I can't say for sure, but I think the human-alien tension is meant to symbolize the tension between different human ethnic groups here on Earth. I'm going to go on line to see if anybody else had the same idea.

I thought the move was kinda dumb....... or at least, it created more questions than it answered, like, why is Christopher leaving everybody on Earth, if he's trying to save them, and why didn't they make the rocket fuel in a hidden, underground bunker, or the damn space ship, instead of a neighbor's shack?!?
