The lack of these things in my inbox is a testament to Google's spam filter, I should think (though when I check the spam box, it's all fake Rolexes and increase your something size, no pigeon drops). I love the Barrister's naivete, thinking I'd have a next of kin named Badger. Usually lawyers who use hotmail.com as their legal email are a bit more worldly and cynical than that.
