Six days in the District -- what have we learned?

1. Hotels that are actually IN the District are prohibitively expensive, so we stay in Alexandria.


2. Hotels in the District are also prohibitively expensive for right-wing nutcase douchebags, so that's who most of the other hotel guests are.


3. EVERYTHING is more expensive here. It's like we're on a tiny island of privilege and luxury floating in a sea of suffering and iniquity. Honolulu with crappy weather, if you like.


4. The DC Metro is very similar to BART but isn't aging as well. We got everywhere we needed to get, but at times there was doubt. On the upside, Metro stations smell like somebody just fried a circuit board, except for the Archives station, which smells like a BART station.
   
   I.E., pee.


5. Metro passengers are far more polite than BART passengers, and actually stand to the side to let disembarking passengers off first. We were dumbfounded.


6. We still don't have the courage to post negative Yelp reviews about anybody.
