So, no return to Stadtmuseum to photograph the gnome painting, because the museum is closed, no Alte Pinakothek because it's closed too, no Neue Pinakothek because you have to take a freakin' bus, so I just wandered about. I'm in terrible shape. I'm out of breath from simple walking, my balance is off, and I got a severe pang of lower back pain right before the Starbucks clerk told me that the Starbucks card I bought solely because Starbucks told me it would work in Germany, doesn't work in Germany. Well, hell, then I'll buy overpriced hot chocolate from a local, thank you. But I did verify the opera location tonight (also checked my ticket, it starts at 6pm and it's la Traviata which is a short opera, what gives?). Also found the Michael Jackson memorial, which is to the official memorials that dot the city what fanfic is to state-sanctioned heroic novels (i.e. equally appalling but in a different and charming way). More importantly, there's a Bubbles Memorial -- for MJ's chimp of that name, not Beverly Sills. Odd, since Sills is dead and the chimp is very much alive. Pictures later, but I still haven't figured out how to download photos from my Nexus 4 without downloading every single icon or image from every damn app on the thing, thousands of them. Takes an hour, and I don't have an hour, because I have to get to the opera! It's about a good-time girl who finds love and a respiratory infection at the same time. As one does.
Oh, but time for this: New Town Hall, which dominates the city core, is older than Old Town Hall. Old Town Hall is from after World War II but they built it in fake medieval style. Whereas New Town Hall survived the war intact, and is from 1810 or so. And it was built in fake medieval style! So this Disney thing is nothing new.
