albadger: (Uncle Bud's Hospital Experience)
Not odd that I'd be at home at 8:48AM on a Saturday, but odd that I'd be up, this is my sleep-in day normally... but today I have a rehearsal at 10:00AM in Berkeley, for a staged reading of short plays tomorrow (by all means cancel your previous plans and jet across the country to come, it's free). And I can barely speak.

I was fine Wednesday morning, but felt cold and chilled in the afternoon. I suppressed it because I wanted to spend time with my brother's family -- they were up here dumping Nephew #1 at Cal State East Bay (btw even when I am typing that I have to make the jazz hands). They got me chocolate at the Ghirardelli Outlet Store, and also a loaf of bread from the Orowheat Outlet Store. Couldn't pass that up...

But Thursday morning, drove to work, set up the computer and phone, made one outbound call -- one -- and could barely croak my way through that. Got coverage for my work and drove home. Fortunately not a bacteria that requires medical attention, but a nasty virus, leaving me mute and in pain well into Friday. I'm better now, but not completely better, and now I get to see how I do at a rehearsal that's scheduled to go for 7 hours. Fortunately, I'm in very little of it. I'm thinking I'll bring the ASL language tapes and listen to them in the car on the way up, that way I'll have an option if I can't make any sound when I get there.

(That last sentence was entirely to see if anybody reads that far into a whiny I'm-sick post like this one.)
