albadger: (Badger's Bad Mood)
In the elder times, I would have posted already about the weekend. Which has been, for me, pretty much miserable. The highlight was a visit from [livejournal.com profile] progbear, who stayed for a double feature of movies nobody would ever choose as a double feature, Dinosaurus! and Tideland.

Exploitation schlock for children from half a century ago and impenetrable Southern Gothic surrealism from just a few years back.

A caveman frightened by a flushing toilet, and a half-mad moppet sharing an abandoned farmhouse with the rotting corpse of her heroin addict father.

But as far apart as these seem, both movies share an important motif:

At one point in each film, an adult stomps on and smashes a child's toy.
So, yeah, that's my weekend. How's yours?
