I Voted for Prince Poppycock. Ten Times!

Yep, I watched "America's Got Talent." The judge formula is intact, with a goofy guy, an effusive half-drunk woman (I don't know that Sharon Osborne is drunk during the tapings or if it's leftover from previous drunks) and a pompous British jackass.

Who "buzzed" Prince Poppycock for being "too serious." What was too serious? The castrato-as-Achilles armor? the floating angel in the background? the overarching silliness? And they picked this twit to replace Larry King instead of the so-much-more deserving Stephanie Miller? So I broke my vow of never being sucked into one of these stupid things, and I voted for Prince Poppycock. Ten Times. Fortunately, I never go over my minutes.
All else is quiet. Second evening in San Diego -- today was the "big day," Mom's surgery, which went well except for the hour-long delay getting her out of recovery & into the room, just because they were short-staffed. Fine excuse, hospital. Your short-sightedness on staffing cost me the brain cells destroyed by two episodes of Disaster Date on MTV. Combine that with the 30 seconds of audio from Keeping up with the Kardashians I accidentally heard on the plane flight down, and I can see that my decision to drop cable TV was not just financially sound, I'd be completely bonkers otherwise.

My parents have cable. So does my brother. I'm here for four weeks. Pray.

Hugs back! How's stuff?

Stuff is pretty good; I wish I could sleep straight through the night, instead of waking up a few times.

My Mom & my cat are both doing well.

It's strange now that the weather is getting cooler; Christmas will be here before ya know it!

Hope your mom recovers quickly!

Even with the option of setting up a favorites list, I still find myself checking back on the stuff I usually bypass (*koff!*VH1*koff!*)

I'm amazed at how much of TV today is hand-held cameras following horrible people about as they treat each other badly. At least on America's Got Talent the contestants treat each other decently.

...at least in the parts they show us...

Glad Mum's doing well!

Another Star Trek spinoff? Is it a sitcom, or a documentary?

I think America's Got Talent has cost us* even MORE brain cells......

*us, in the America sense... I don't watch game shows. ...saw PP on youtube, though. He's gotta be one of Pee Wee's bastard children!

Thanks for the thoughts! The thing that really makes teh stupid about AGT is the filler more than the acts; the fake suspense, the "human interest," the (worst of all) pop acts who are brought on for no reason at all but may share an agent or a manager with somebody, and they're promoting a new album or something. Usher, the Goo-Goo Dolls and Jewel made the "amateurs" seem interesting by comparison.

That about sums up the reason I don't watch.

What the FUCK does David Hasselbutt or Sharon Osborne know about talent?!?!?

If there was a way to watch the acts, without the filler, I might.
