A shred of the past imbedded in tacky 1970s British SF
I got a bug in my brain and pulled out a box of VHS tapes I'd recorded ages ago to catalog them... and as I'm fast forwarding through a recording of the Doctor Who story the Mutants, suddenly the video clips out, and there's me, from Feb 21, 1993, sleeping on the couch, with Sparky (see icon) sleeping on my legs and Gilda (no icon) sleeping on my lap. Apparently taken by my Former Domestic Partner; this would have been about a month before my life, relationship and home situation slid down into a 2-year Living Hell situation... but it's a peaceful moment. I need to transfer this to some other medium. I wasn't actually bad looking when I was 39. And asleep.
For those of you not familiar with Doctor Who, he is an extraterrestrial being who travels through time and space having adventures with young Earth people in tow. The story in which I am embedded is from the Jon Pertwee years, with Katy Manning playing his companion Jo Grant. I imagine that Katy, much like the actress who played the youngest Brady girl, occasionally wondered if her character was supposed to be developmentally disabled. Check it out.
