Item # 2 on Things to Do before I Die

One of the things I obsess about is state-to-state border crossings -- because of my upbringing as a military brat, and subsequent travels as an adult, I've done most of them (and all of the borders in the Far West). State to state borders uncrossed by me are in orange in the following map. And I want to cross them all.

Uncrossed Borders
I'm figuring I could do the whole lot of them in 3 weekend trips and 3 week-long trips. It would be important to add activities & destinations, like Devil's Tower in Wyoming, or what is supposed to be a kick-ass steakhouse in Boise City, Oklahoma -- and who'd want to miss the Creation Museum in Kentucky? Or maybe I could be in the audience for Jerry Springer!

My favorite uncrossed border is the Missouri-to-Kentucky one, which has no bridge & no road, just an on-demand car ferry. How many Californians have done that?

UPDATE: The Jerry Springer Show is now taped in Connecticut, not Cincinnati, so will not serve my purposes at all... Sad, that...

actually, i have ...

Currently researching the Oklahoma panhandle trip, and I'm loving the on-line reviews. Here's my favorite one about the Townsman Motel in Boise City (spellings as in the original):

Careful with the wife of the owner she is very rude the husband it ok i stayed ther for a month she was always complaning that i had the a/c on and they have a washer and dryer but they will charge you 5 dollar per load each washer and dryer oh and the lady will be there next to you checking how much clothes you are going to put on the washer the cleaning staff its so rude they through my stuff they were always in a rude mood exept for this old lady. i could of move to a diffrent hotel but they were the same owners there are only two hotels. this is good as it get in this town...

There is nothing "kick-ass" in Boise City Oklahoma. I've been there. It is 100 miles from my home town in Kansas. It is the classic town with Welcome on both sides of the sign. But if you are inclined I can take you there. It's a day trip out of Denver.

Day Trip?

It's 300 miles to Denver! I was looking at flying into Amarillo, renting a car, driving up to the OK/CO border & then turning around, and driving back via Clayton NM. One of the weekend trips.

Yeah, everybody sez the Oklahoma panhandle is flat, dull and avoidable, but this isn't about the destination, this is about a venetian blind slat being out of place!

Really! 300 miles in Eastern Colorado is NOTHING. I know people who drive from my home town to Denver for the Day. On the eastern plains, you can average 60 miles an hour.

I love this website! Thanks!

I note that it says I could drive from SF to Boise City for only $200, and I'm, like nooooooooo.....

Not always a joke. I knew somebody who moved a lot as a kid, and was told it was his Dad's job that was moving them around... in reality they were staying one step ahead of the law... and I complain...
