Ya know what? Fox News is horrible, but I can take it, it's no worse than Real Housewives or Guidos or any of the other trash on cable TV.

What I can't take is my father -- the man who taught me to respect truth and honesty -- falling for it.

FNC just had a segment telling us how wonderful the Teabaggers are, how they're sweeping the country, everybody loves them, triumph in November! On to support this is pollster Frank Luntz. He's easy to look up. Look him up now.

My Dad: "But he's a pollster! He's completely impartial!"
Me: "Dad, that's Frank Luntz. His job for 25 years has been to coach GOP candidates on buzzwords and smear words."
Dad: "No! that's not true! He's impartial!"
Me: "Look it up yourself. I don't care."
Dad: "No! that's not true! He's impartial!"
Me: [puts in headphones, listens to Skeptics Guide to the Universe Podcast]

But there's only one new podcast a week. I wish I could get my Dad to listen to SGttU, but he won't.

*hugs* back! This seems to be a common problem. I'm not sure if decrying socialism while collecting Social Security checks and being covered by Medicare is a symptom of age-related brain decay, or a sign of mental versatility that we should treasure and encourage. Probably both.
