Right now I'm in the waiting area in JFK Terminal 5, waiting for my 6:45pm flight back home to Oakland, and I've been having an adventure... an adventure that included a challenge.

"I miss you on LiveJournal," said [livejournal.com profile] mudcub last night, as he, [livejournal.com profile] thornyc and I were "enjoying" Night Train to Terror at their truly amazing apartment in the Flatiron District (eponymous building in full view, Chrysler & Empire State also visible if you stand on this box & twist your head around just so). "You used to post to LiveJournal about all your adventures, and now it's at most a line on Facebook. I miss that." Which is, clearly, a challenge.

So, for the new year, a post to LiveJournal for every adventure. This particular trip calls for more than one, and we'll start with how wonderful and kind my hosts were, and how great last night's dinner was -- place was called -- dammit! I think it was the "Blue Knife," but I have been hit in the head a lot over the years. Whatever the name, wonderful ribs (had the sampler plate), perfectly prepared sides (including a bacon-wrapped date with bleu cheese, priced individually), and rather incredible desserts (we had the sampler plate of that too). There was a jazz club downstairs, but the music hadn't started yet, as it was early, so my hosts took me to Madison Square Park to view the current art installation, nested truncated icosohedron skeletons with elaborate lighting effects and very comfortable wooden recliners for the comforted of the stoners. Afterwards back to the apartment, which is amazing as I said earlier, to view one of the world's worst movies. I only meant for us to watch the horrible 80's band in the linking sequences but we did the whole damn thing at one sitting. I'm wondering if it could be reedited into a complex confusing masterpiece like Intolerance or Pulp Fiction Probably not.

Well, weekend is over, and I'm heading home. Fortunately the coming week promises no adventures of any kind, leaving me plenty of time to write LiveJournal entries covering the other adventures of this trip, and also the 3-D movie I saw on Wednesday.

Oh, yes, and the thing that happened on New Year's Day. That was kind of unusual
