I'm a little ticked off that I missed honoring October 10 as:

  1. Giuseppe Verdi's 200th Birthday
  2. The 33rd anniversary of my appendectomy.
Perhaps having moles and skin tags frozen off with liquid nitrogen could be seen as an adequate celebration of these milestones. Perhaps not.

I did get to the SF Opera production of "Falstaff" last night, so that's kind of a recognition.

I love all of Verdi, even the crappy ones (lookin' at you, il Corsaro), but my personal fave of the early years is Giovanna d'Arco. Just hits me in the right place... which is why I flew to Chicago last month to see a production of it. Opera tourism is kinda nuts, isn't it...

I was tossing up whether to listen to the Scottish Opera, Nabucco or Falstaff. It was a close call. Speaking of Falstaff, do you know the Vaughan Williams version Sir John in Love?
